Profile
I am a Computer Science Specialist holding BSc, MSc and PhD in Computer Science from Basrah, Baghdad (Iraq) and Buckingham (UK) Universities respectively. see my cv.
The most enjoyable part of my current career is the mixing between research and the academic teaching. Practical research gives me a great deal of inspiration when performing my teaching duties.
The actual teaching of programming makes me very capable of switching between the various programming languages with relative ease.
I am currently accumulating vast experience in designing new courses in computer science by reflecting on the industry’s actual needs and applying them to my teaching.
Research of novel practices coupled with self teaching is fast becoming the spine of my academic life.
Currently, I am a lecturer in computer science in the University of Buckingham/.Applied computing department I am conducting courses in different computer science fields; Programming, Imaging Techniques, Multimedia Systems, Networking, Web Technologies and Fundamentals of Computing. Moreover I am the undergraduate and postgraduate project tutor and have the responsibility of organising all final year's projects for the students.
previously, I have accumulated a vast experience in teaching various computing subjects at a number of universities in Jordan and Iraq. At the Applied Science University - Jordan, I have conducted classes in Structured Programming, Data Structures, and File Processing. While in Iraq I taught at the University of Baghdad and Al-Mansoor University. Subjects that I taught included programming, data structures, file processing, system analysis, algorithms and databases.

Research areas I am involved in:
I have two main core research areas; image processing and networks. In image processing I am interested in wavelet-based image/video processing / analysis, feature extraction, image/video feature preserving compression, wavelet based image quality measurements, noise detection, and content-based video indexing and retrieval. The network interest includes cross-technologies wireless networking, and wired & wireless routing. Finally I am interested in multimedia and web techniques research where the two main research areas, image processing and networks, can be pooled together.
I have an interest in mobile programming using Symbian and Andriod OS, which is now an open industry standard operating system for data enabled mobile phones.
